Israeli military to stay deployed in West Bank refugee camps until end of year: Defence minister
As we’ve reported, Israel’s military waged intensive, months-long raids on several refugee camps in the northern parts of the occupied West Bank earlier this year, displacing tens of thousands and killing dozens.
Claiming the operation to be a security success, Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz now says the military will remain active in Jenin, Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps for the coming months.
The military is “currently remaining inside the camps under my orders, at least until the end of the year”, he wrote in a post on X.
Israeli forces detain Palestinians in Bethlehem, Nablus raids: Report
Israeli forces carried out new raids across the occupied West Bank this morning, according to the Wafa news agency.
In Nablus city and the nearby Balata camp, forces searched multiple homes and arrested at least three people, including a young woman, Wafa reported. In the village of Burqa, northwest of the city, another young man was detained.
In Bethlehem, Israeli forces raided a home and arrested a father and son, the agency added.
Palestinian hospitalised after ‘severe beating’ by Israeli soldiers in West Bank: Report
Israeli soldiers stopped and detained a Palestinian man near the town of Haris in the occupied West Bank last night and “severely beat” him, the Wafa news agency reports.
The man, identified as Hamza Marwan Buziyeh, was later left by the roadside near Haris, according to the agency. He was taken to the Martyr Yasser Arafat Governmental Hospital in Salfit for treatment, Wafa said.
Israeli forces kill Palestinian in Jericho
A Palestinian has succumbed to the gunfire wounds he sustained by Israeli forces in Jericho, in the occupied West Bank, yesterday evening, according to the Wafa news agency.
Abdullah Mohammed Atiyat, 25, was pronounced dead this morning after being transferred at dawn to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem from Jericho Governmental Hospital due to the seriousness of his condition, it said.
Wafa reported that Israeli forces had wounded Atiyat in the upper body after opening fire during a raid in central Jericho.
