If you could save one now defunct studio, who would it be and why?

Japan Studio. I know I'm exaggerating but it kinda feels like Sony became a colorless TV without them around (well I'm glad Asobi remains). Sony should have explored porting their games to other platforms before deciding to shut them down, same goes to any struggling first party developer really.
