Of the few I listed in my first post I'd especially recommend Jack Keane (<- another review), which seems to be one of the best recent releases. Or just download Sam & Max Season Two.
But if - judging from your original post - you're more into Myst-style adventures, I can't recommend you anything, as I didn't follow this subgenre in the last decade (I never liked Myst or any Myst-like game - I'm the typical LucasArts/Sierra/Westwood/RevolutionSoftware adventure gamer).
