Metal Gear Solid 2 is the obvious example for me, it came out at 2001 with themes that are extremely relevant today, and received a newfound appreciation in the MGS fanbase in recent years. It also helps that MGS4 made Raiden cool.
I almost want to say Tears of the Kingdom came out too early too. Could you imagine if it was a Switch 2 launch title, with all the S2 Edition improvements out of the gate?

The themes were relevant in 2001 as well with the massive disinformation campaign to support Afghanistan and Iraq invasions. "They hate us for our Freedom', "WMD in Iraq". People just didn't see it yet back then... The media manipulation was already in full swing and remote controlled warfare with private mercenary armies (Blackwater) as well.

Agree on TotK, I would have lined up for a midnight launch if TotK was a Switch 2 release title. Now I'm waiting for the next Zelda before getting the Switch 2. Plus they would have had more time to flesh out the Depth and the Sky islands and increase the limits for builds and duration/distance in which everything resets.
