One killed in Israeli drone attack in southern Lebanon
One person has been confirmed killed after an Israeli drone attack hit the Tyre district in southern Lebanon. The country’s National News Agency said the target was a vehicle travelling on a road between two towns in the area.
The Israeli army has not commented on the attack yet, but it has been assassinating people in southern Lebanon who it claims are members of Hezbollah and are trying to reestablish a military presence.
Israeli drone falls in south Lebanon
The Lebanese army says an Israeli quadcopter carrying a hand grenade fell outside the border village of Meiss al-Jabal.
The army said it was able to safely detonate the grenade and transfer the drone for inspection, calling the incident part of Israel’s “continuing aggressions and violations of Lebanon’s national sovereignty”.
US opposes France’s release of Pro-Palestinian Lebanese fighter
The US State Department’s spokesperson says Washington is opposed to the French government’s release and expulsion to Lebanon of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah.
“His release threatens the safety of US diplomats abroad and is a grave injustice to the victims and the families of those killed,” Tammy Bruce said in a post on X.
“The United States will continue to support the pursuit of justice in this matter.”
The pro-Palestinian Lebanese fighter has been jailed since 1984 for the killing of two diplomats, one of them Israeli and the other American. The appeals court cited the length of Abdallah’s detention and his advanced age, calling his continued imprisonment “disproportionate”.

Looks pretty comfy. Better to stay there, he'll likely be assassinated by Israel in a drone strike in Lebanon.
Israel ‘will continue to act’ to protect Syria’s Druze community: Katz
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz says he met with the spiritual Druze leader Sheikh Muwafaq Tarif and renewed commitment to provide “urgent medical and humanitarian aid” to the Druze community in Syria.
After clashes between Druze armed groups and government and tribal forces in southern Syria earlier this month, Israel has intervened militarily on behalf of the Druze.
As it starves Gaza, Israel says it has been providing humanitarian aid to Druze communities in Syria. “We are committed to our Druze brothers in Israel and will continue to act to protect their Druze brothers in Syria,” Katz said.
The new Syrian authorities have stressed repeatedly that they are not seeking conflict with Israel. But the Israeli military has been regularly bombing Syria and advancing inside the country beyond the occupied Goal Heights since the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad last year.
The violence has been entirely one-sided. Syria has not responded to any of the Israeli attacks.
