Thursday gaming news, part two:

Steam will let you reverse your last 7 days of CS2 (and soon other) trades if you accidentally swap your $10,000 AK-47 for some magic beans

Steam's introducing a new feature it's calling Trade Protection to Counter-Strike 2. In essence, it's designed so that—if you find yourself victim of a con that hijacks your Steam account and trades away all your $5,000 AK and Karambit skins—you can easily reverse the last seven days of trades on your account at the touch of a button.

Seven months after putting Johnny Silverhand in your car, Cyberpunk 2077's latest update will let you kick him out

CD Projekt confirmed today that Cyberpunk 2077's 2.3 update will arrive on July 17 with four new vehicles, an autonomous driving feature (including, finally, self-driving Delamain cabs), upgrades to the photo mode, and—the big one, to me at least—an option to kick Johnny out of the car if he starts to get on your nerves.

Unknown Worlds founders' lawsuit accuses Krafton of a 'months-long campaign to delay Subnautica 2' so it wouldn't have to pay $250M earnout

As promised last week, the ousted founders of Subnautica 2 studio Unknown Worlds have filed a lawsuit against publisher Krafton, effectively accusing the company of sabotaging the game in an effort to avoid paying a $250 million earnout—and, when that failed, of seizing control of the company outright.

After leaving Ubisoft to launch an anime avatar AI/NFT startup, Yves Guillemot's son returns to take charge of its new Tencent-backed Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow 6 subsidiary

When Ubisoft and Tencent announced the creation of a new company that will take control of Ubi's Big Three—Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six—the obvious question, for me at least, was, who's really going to be in charge here? Ubisoft has the games, yes, but Tencent has the money. Today we got our answer, and it turns out that it's not the games that really matter, but the name—and that name is Guillemot.

'Cease this behaviour immediately': Marvel Rivals is finally punishing smurfs by forcing them—and some innocent players—to smurf
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/cease-this-behaviour-immediately-marvel-rivals-is-finally-punishing-smurfs-by-forcing-them-and-some-innocent-players-to-smurf/
There's been a serious smurf infestation in Marvel Rivals for some time now, and sadly, I'm not talking about the little blue guys. I can't remember when it all started, but it's one of the many problems that came over from Overwatch, as streamers started doing bronze to GM trend videos.
(...)
Earlier this week, the Marvel Rivals streamer known as ottr got a penalty notice during a Spider-Man to Celestial run: "The system has detected that you have recently been smurfing. We urge you to cease this behaviour immediately. If you continue down this path, we will impose further penalties."
The further penalties will likely just mean a ban of varying lengths, or, as one player found out, a season ban and a rank reset, which means they'll have to start from bronze next season. Wait, what? So, to punish people for smurfing NetEase is going to make them smurf. An ingenious plan, I can in no way see this backfiring or becoming ineffective.

'Father of Elder Scrolls' steps back from game development because of cancer: 'We are preparing to say goodbye to a true legend of the industry'

Julian LeFay, a programmer and chief engineer at Bethesda until his departure in 1998, is stepping back from game development and his current project, The Wayward Realms. LeFay has been suffering from cancer for several years and, per CEO of OnceLost Games Ted Peterson, has made the decision "for his health and to live his final moments surrounded by his loved ones."

Hyperbeat is one of the best rhythm games I've played, with one of the most confusing UIs which at times makes me feel sick
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/hyperbeat-is-one-of-the-best-rhythm-games-ive-played-with-one-of-the-most-confusing-uis-which-at-times-makes-me-feel-sick/
I remember the first time I looked into a kaleidoscope as a kid, it was so strange and disarming to me that I threw up a little bit, and then it was confiscated by my parents. Sad, but probably for the best. It's a memory that I pushed so far down I'd almost entirely forgotten about it, until I played Hyperbeat.
It lives up to the claim that it's "A rhythm game like no other". Instead of being set in a static environment, the notes fly towards you, each indicating whether you need to slash, ride, or avoid them. It's set in something called the jungle, which is essentially just a black and white tube in which you can manoeuvre to hit the notes
