Star Wars: Dark Forces 2 Fan Remake in Unreal Engine is still alive

Back in November 2023, we shared a fan remake of Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 in Unreal Engine 4. And even though almost two years have passed, Ruppertle is still working on it. In fact, a few weeks ago, he shared a brand-new video. So, make sure to watch it if you are a Star Wars fan.
This new video gives us a first look at the swimming mechanics made for level 3, “The Return Home to Sulon”. This is still a WIP, meaning that the artist will further polish it. Still, this is something that may interest our Dark Forces 2 fans.
As a bonus, I added two more videos below. The first video shows the workshop, which is the last room in level 3. The second video shows more gameplay from that level. It looks like the artist is working hard to finish level 3. So, we might get a new demo once it’s done.
Right now, you can still download the latest version, V1.02. This version includes 3 official levels from the original game and 4 Survival levels. It also comes with a Sandbox mode and a 3D model viewer. Plus, you will find a bonus level for testing.

A team of modders is currently working on a mod for Far Cry that will restore the pre-release content of its earlier builds. And, a few days ago, the team shared a new video, showcasing the full mutant roster from Far Cry’s E3 2003 build.
The modding team claims that old, early versions of the game’s levels will be brought back and improved a lot. Some levels that were removed from the game will also return. The same goes for weapons, vehicles, and enemies. The enemies will have brand-new 3D models and smoother animations. Because of this, even longtime Far Cry fans will feel like they’re playing something new.
As mentioned, this new video shows the enemies that are coming back. Each mutant now has its own special weapons, behavior, and brand-new detailed models. The team also made new textures and custom voice sounds for each one. This will help make them feel more unique while still staying true to the original characters.
Project Beta has been in development for over a year. Unfortunately, there is no ETA on when it will be released. If I had to guess, I’d say it might come out in late 2026 or 2027. That’s assuming the team continues working on it.

Need for Speed fans, here is something for you today. Modder alessandro893 has released Version 0.5 for his amazing RTX Remix Mod for Need for Speed: Underground. This mod adds real-time Path Tracing to this classic racing game. So, let’s see what this new version brings to the table.
Version 0.5 has over 500 new textures. The modder has created a variety of new textures to enhance the game’s visuals, adding intricate detail and realism to the environment. Moreover, the mod introduces a range of new, high-poly models to replace or enhance existing assets. These new 3D modes will bring a fresh level of detail and depth to the game world.
NFS: Underground RTX V0.5 will give a big upgrade to the famous China Town area. It adds new models, better textures, and cool lighting effects. This will make the area look more detailed and exciting. The modder also improved the “Lock Up” Sprint Race Track. It now has more trees, plants, and better surroundings. These changes will make racing feel even more fun and realistic.

To celebrate Frostpunk 2's budding modding scene, 11 Bit Studios is hosting a contest to find the best mod around, alongside mod.io. There are a bunch of prizes and a ton of time for contestants to make something really special, as the submission deadline is August 22, and the winners will be announced on September 1.
"We’re thrilled to see how much Frostpunk’s modding community has grown since the game’s release," 11 Bit says in a blog post. "Seeing how your creativity expands and reshapes the world of Frostpunk makes us extremely happy, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed!
