From a sales perspective, Kinnect gave a massive boost to Xbox 360, Kinnect was a major reason why Wii sales fell off a cliff after a few years.

The real reason why Wii sales declined sharply in 2011 is because Nintendo released only Wii Play Motion in the first half of 2011, a game that came bundled with a controller and was sold for $50. It was a bad year for Nintendo software on the Wii as Nintendo had already shifted development focus to the 3DS (released in Q1 2011) and the upcoming Wii U.

Even over a decade later people refuse to acknowledge the severe software drought of 2011, because they'd rather believe that the Wii was a fad. That all the same people got blindsided by Ring Fit Adventure's and Switch Sports' success doesn't matter to them.

People realize Nintendo home consoles sucks. That is why the Wii U flopped too despite a good line up. Nintendo's bread and butter is handheld. That is why I'm surprise in the other thread people didn't vote for gameboy as Nintendo's most ground breaking system.
