Just played through Resident Evil 3 remake for the second time. Most of the criticisms it got were warranted. As a remake it is not so great, and it is quite short for the price, especially since a second playthrough is not gonna be all that different from the first.
That being said, it is actually a really good game when you don’t start comparing it to the original, it’s a focused, condensed experience that never wastes your time. The presentation is gorgeous, cut-scenes and voice acting are really good. There is a good amount of enemy variety, and the game never keeps you in the same area for too long, so it won’t get boring. The new dodging mechanic is just perfect and so fun to use.
Maybe some areas are a bit too much in and out, not allowing much exploration, but the downtown part in the beginning (the attention to detail there with movie posters and toy shops is just breathtaking) and the hospital section are just incredible to go through.
I am kind of in between a 7/10 and an 8/10. Will give it a small 8/10 for now.
