I don't really get why it's a problem to say AI will amount to nothing but it's not a problem for how much OpenAI/Microsoft hype it up, Lol. Both are extremes. I've always been near the middle-ground, but one thing I won't budge on is AGI, Lol. I've been hearing that is around the corner for years and AI is still spitting out stupid answers, getting basic shit wrong, easily manipulated and very clearly an AI chatbot, Lol. AGI specifically is a marketing gimmick, I expect the goalpost will be moved to "achieve" it but real AGI won't arrive until long after I'm dead, if it's even possible. We aren't getting to that "utopia" anytime soon.
