This was quite the disappointment when I realized that there are no cross-saves. The only time I used the return policy of Steam, because ESO was kinda pointless if I could not access my character with the Steam version.

And the "best" thing is, if Microsoft goes forward with only making "Xbox" with Windows from now on, that plays only Windows versions of the games, all the Xbox ESO players will be stranded in the aging console until they implement cross save or just stop supporting the console entirely.

They have 2-3 years to figure it out and I think they will because they have no other choice.

This wouldn't have been an issue if they didn't cancel their next MMO, because The Elder Scrolls Online would be in sunset mode in about 2-3 years from now and their next MMO would be about to release which likely would support cross-save/cross-play, etc. The main reason TESO doesn't support cross-save IIRC is because it's old and they didn't really consider it at the time, now it would take a big overhaul to the systems. To be clear, this is going to be expensive, and a technical nightmare, Microsoft has fucked Zenimax over in so many ways by cancelling their next MMO.

They're probably going to have to overhaul multiple major systems in The Elder Scrolls Online now to ensure it lives for another 10 years and for when the Xbox/PC hybrid happens, which they wouldn't have needed to do if they were still releasing their next MMO, because The Elder Scrolls Online would have started winding down anyway, they've totally fucked Zenimax's entire future plans I feel.
