I was really excited to see what Harvey Smith and John Johanas could come back with in particular. God I hope Microsoft doesn't fuck with id Software and Quakecon though!!!

Pete Hines retired, Mikami left thinking Tango would be safe and even spoke about leaving before the acquisition but was afraid if he did so that the studio would be shutdown so I wouldn't put that on Microsoft, but losing Harvey Smith, John Johanas and Matt Firor is definitely their fault and a direct result of their actions, likewise with Gregg Mayles and Louise O'Connor.
People may be able to say that Perfect Dark was shovelware which it looks true, but that's based on rumours, people are using rumours to justify closing The Initiative and Perfect Dark, fair, but also ignoring the rumours that say that Everwild and Project Kestrel were looking good and moving along steadily, and Gregg Mayles leadership over Everwild wasn't even that long.
Was losing Gregg Mayles and Louise O'Connor worth it? That's what cancelling Everwild has done.
And FWIW, Jason Scheirer is also hinting that Project Kestrel had a lot of positivity behind it and was sounding great. So if we're going to use rumours to justify Perfect Dark/The Initiative's closures, we should be using rumours that say Everwild and Project Kestrel shouldn't have been cancelled because they were both sounding great.
And that Romero game was cancelled despite them meeting every single deadline.
