I don't think, at the current stage of the industry, we can get a console that rivals the PS2 library-wise. We had a much healthier mid-budget market then and much more experimentation and the influx of indies cannot offset the consolidation, sterility and long dev cycles of the current market. To be honest, I think the PS2 stand significantly above, library-wise, other consoles that dominated their market like the PS1 or the DS. Or most recently, the Switch.

However , I do think that if we aren't looking at the totality of the library but something like the best 50 games, which is a realistic amount of games that a lot of people will not surpass in terms of purchases per gen, the Switch can edge it out. Depending on the genres and tastes.

I could say the same for the PS4.
