Christians are suppose to follow the word of Christ, because he is the way to God. He is their savior and their guide. So if they're doing things like hating gay people, killing abortionists, judging others, fighting wars, molesting children, retaliating or seeking revenge... basically anything other than following the golden rule (do unto others etc.), they are disobeying Christ and thus, not behaving as commanded. Which is like 90% of so-called Christians these days, sadly. |
They are following the Bible.
And not all Christian denominations interpret the Bible the same.
Some denominations believe in the Bible in a literal sense (See: 7th day Adventist) and thus the "following of the word of Christ" differs between different Christian groups.
And the Bible does command the death to non-believers, forcing marriage onto rape victims, stoning of unruly children to death and so much more horrific crap.
...It doesn't make them less Christian or more Christian. They are just another type of Christian... And I think that is ultimately the real issue.
And then you have the other branches of the Abrahamic religions which are related to Christianity like Judaism and Islam, which are another take on the same religious context full of damnation, hate and bigotry... The only difference with Christianity is they bolted on the New Testament, but otherwise they all share the same God.
