I actually think the PS4 represents a significant shift in Sony's console business in large part due to PlayStation Network. There's no rush to upgrade when you can still play GTA Online or Fortnite with large communities.
Like the PS3 still has millions of players using it today. I can see the PS5 having 10M+ people still using it while we're approaching the end of the PS6's lifecycle. Sony is slowly cultivating an ecosystem similar to Steam in terms of how many people are still using older hardware while still setting new MAU records every year.
