Mediator Oman confirms US-Iran nuclear talks cancelled

The round of negotiations between US and Iranian officials previously scheduled for Sunday will not take place, says Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi. “But diplomacy and dialogue remain the only pathway to lasting peace,” Albusaidi wrote in a social media post.

Israeli military says two rockets fired from Gaza

The rockets, launched from southern Gaza, activated alerts in the Israeli town of Nir Oz and fell in open areas, the Israeli military says.

Croatian diplomat injured in Tel Aviv strikes: Foreign Minister

Croatia’s consul in Israel and his wife were lightly injured in Iran’s missile strikes on Tel Aviv, Croatia’s Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman has said.

“I am shaken by the news that our consul and his wife were injured in the attack on Tel Aviv. The building they live in was hit,” he said on X. “I spoke with them and, fortunately, their injuries are minor and they are not in any life-threatening condition.”

Grlic Radman added that his ministry was in constant contact with the Croatian embassy in Israel and was taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of its staff. “We strongly condemn attacks on civilians and diplomatic facilities. We call for immediate de-escalation and restraint,” he asserted.

Netanyahu wants ‘to change the agenda’

“Israel is fighting yesterday’s war,” Akiva Eldar, an Israeli political analyst, tells Al Jazeera. He said if the aim was to destroy Iran’s nuclear capabilities, it is too late, as “Iran has enough physical material to produce an atomic bomb.”

“What Netanyahu really wants, and maybe it sounds like a conspiracy theory, is to change the agenda, to change the headlines, and now, from a loser who refused to take responsibility to the biggest blunder, military blunder of October 7 … he is a rock star”, Eldar said.

However, Israel cannot destroy Iran’s nuclear programme alone, he said, adding that it is only the US that could do that if it decided to help Israel penetrate the underground facilities.

“I don’t believe that President Trump, Mr MAGA, is interested in getting involved in a regional war”, he said.
