Global March To Gaza Defies Blockade With Unarmed Resistance | Will The Soumoud Convoy Reach Gaza?
Gaza is under siege, and the world is watching. But while governments hesitate, over 1,000 global activists are stepping up with action—not weapons. The Soumoud Convoy, meaning “steadfastness” in Arabic, has launched from Tunis and is marching across North Africa with one bold mission: to break the Israeli siege on Gaza through civilian resistance. This land convoy includes participants from Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania, Libya, and Morocco—and it’s part of a wider Global March to Gaza, supported by groups like Codepink, Palestinian Youth Movement, and Jewish Voice for Labour.
The movement comes amid reports of genocide and famine in Gaza, with over 55,000 Palestinians killed since October 2023 and 1.95 million facing starvation. The convoy hopes to cross into Egypt and reach the Rafah crossing—but Egypt’s military zone restrictions and Libya’s eastern authorities remain the biggest roadblocks. Despite the political uncertainty, the message is clear: “If they stop us by sea, we’ll come by land.”
Even if they don’t reach Gaza, this bold act has already reignited global solidarity and exposed government inaction. The Soumoud Convoy is not just about aid—it’s about moral accountability and defiance in the face of silence.
