Israeli drone strike kills at least one in southern Lebanon
Our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic are reporting that an Israeli drone has bombed a car in the town of Beit Leif in southern Lebanon.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry have now said that at least one person was killed and three others were injured in the attack. A statement from the ministry’s Public Health Emergency Operations Center confirmed the casualties and said they were the result of a direct strike on the town.
The Israeli military has been carrying out near-daily strikes in southern Lebanon, claiming to be targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and personnel. This is despite a ceasefire deal that was reached between Israel and Lebanon in November last year.
Lebanese officials say Israel has repeatedly violated the agreement. Since the truce came into effect, Beirut has reported nearly 3,000 breaches, including air and ground incursions. These violations, according to the Lebanese government, have resulted in the deaths of more than 200 people and injured more than 500.
