I really just pray to god that if they're dropping Gears, Fable, Forza, and a potential Halo all next year (which is already kinda nuts to begin with), that they have the good decency not to shotgun blast them all at us within like a 2-3 month period at the end of year. Just looking at how they've lined up releases this year in October (and then presumably CoD right at the start of November or something) is giving me nightmares of a potential 6 week roll out of Xbox's biggest names all cutting into each other (nvm any other games releasing) like we ain't got nothing else to do in life. |
You'd think Halo would be November 15th, Forza Horizon will likely aim for where it usually does, which is usually late September - early October. Only Forza Horizon 1 was late October and Forza Horizon 5 was November but 2-4 were late September - early October. Oh my God they may decide that since Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 didn't hurt each other they'll do that again, Lmao.
I really hope Fable or Gears make it out early 2026 but neither feel like early 2026 titles, they all feel like Holiday titles! But that's because we've been conditioned to think that, there is no real reason why they can't be early 2026 from a marketing/release perspective. But then there's heavy rumours that State of Decay 3 is early 2026.
April - June are likely out, GTA 6 will cause them to avoid May like a plague and they'll likely avoid the month before and after GTA 6 as it's going to be that big of a cultural phenomenon and drain the life out of any videogame launching near it from a marketing perspective. Even games releasing before GTA 6 will struggle because all people will be talking about is GTA 6, then any lengthy game or multiplayer component will be dropped as soon as GTA is out, Lol.
I'd definitely do Halo in November and Forza Horizon in September but I don't know where to slot Gears or Fable. I don't know which will be killed less by GTA, Lmao. I'd honestly probably just put Gears into October and Fable in Early 2026 but I don't really know if Fable is safe in April, I don't know if Gears is safe in April, I doubt either of them release in Jan-March and then there's State of Decay 3 rumour.
GTA 6 is really fucking things up because I feel like unless someone is feeling ballsy it will wipe out at least 3 months of the year, Lol.

I would hope Obsidian have enough clout inside of Microsoft to say "Hey, we need to lower the price" but I doubt it. I do believe from a budget and content perspective it is fully justified at being $70 but $80 should be reserved for the biggest of titles (Call of Duty, GTA) and a major problem is that I don't believe The Outer Worlds is a big enough (in terms of fanbase) IP for $80.
All major publishers will start following soon but CoD should have been the first $80 from Microsoft and now they may see the reception to The Outer Worlds and just sit back and let Microsoft take the blunt of the negativity until things die down and only then come in with their $80 titles, Lmao. If Microsoft backtracks, it will hopefully cause other publishers to only reserve $80 for their biggest titles.

Game probably will not do well, steam numbers will be low and we another low player number 3 million or so and xbox will call it another groundbreaking succes while gamers and gaming media will roll their eyes with those kind of sad statements. 50 dollars would make it huge and create a lot of goodwill.. |
Well I won't be buying it because I'll be playing it through Game Pass.
But The Outer Worlds 2 is absolutely not a $50 game either, what are you talking about? The first The Outer Worlds was $60, did you even watch the stream? The Outer Worlds 2 is bigger and better in practically every single way, Lol. It should be $60 again but $70 would be justifiable Imo from a budget and content perspective, it's as AAA as any other $70 title. The first The Outer Worlds launched literally on the same date as CoD at $60 and went on to be a big success which generated a sequel.
I'm not even going to touch the "narrative" about Steam CCU or "low" player numbers, Lol.
