He says if there's no real progress, the U.S. will hand over the lead role in resolving the conflict to Europe — though he's also open to increasing arms supplies if needed.

So much for "Ceasefire in 24 hours" and "I'll get a ceasefire because Putin respects me" and "Putin stop, or else!" and "If Putin doesn't stop, then they'll be bad consequences!" to "Sanctions on Russia if there's not a ceasefire!" now we're at the stage of "I didn't try anything, I was too scared to pressure Russia at all, I didn't enforce any of my threats, if there's no ceasefire, America is leaving"
