yeah I know who made that rumor and I don't trust the guy but I don't think it's crazy to think that a new console could potentially release at the end of 2027. Personally I would love 2028-2029 but you never know and Horizon 3 may take longer than 2027 to release if they are making the multiplayer right now which I'm interested to see because Horizon Zero Dawn in its early stages of development was a multiplayer game.

They have 2 teams nowdays, so that should not interfere with Horizon 3 dev time, at least not considerably.

And I can't see the PS5 coming at 2027, it's only 3 years after the 5 Pro, the PS5 took 4 years after the 4 Pro to come.

Plus, there is no good reason the PS6 would release in 2027.

Tech won't be there: PS5 Pro is quite powerful to be topped sooner rather than latter;

Price definitely won't be there: 5 Pro is also very expensive and even the 2TB Series X is as expensive as that now;

Games now benefit from a longer generation cycle;

Microsoft can't force Sony hand at all.

If they launch the PS6 is 2027 it will only lead to an unnecessary, unimpressive and still very expensive machine, or a $1000+ machine that will not reach PS3 numbers to say the least, also killing the PS5 gen for no reason at all.

Late 2028 right now sound like the earliest it should be coming, to match a decent balance of tech, price and long dev cycle. Unless the Switch 2 somehow kills the PS5, which I also can't see happening at all too, both should co-exist applealing mostly to their own strenghts and not hurt eachother.

Solid arguments, actually thinking more about it 2026 could be the strongest PS5 year because of GTA and potentially Wolverine at the end of the year it would make sense if the sales of GTA and PS5 to be keep momentum in 2027, it would be impractical to launch a console that year.
