Ah, yeah PS5 + PSVR2 is too much, better to upgrade your PC instead. And then indeed better to go for a standalone Quest.
As for waiting, Quest 4 is still at least a year away. If you find Quest 3s on sale it's probably your best bet. The lower resolution with the full power of Quest 3 will at least give you good performance.
No telling now what Quest 4 / 4s is going to cost with tarifs and what not. (How much longer will Meta bleed around a Billion a month for VR...)
Quest 3s is currently CAD 400 here (128gb version with Batman), PSVR2 CAD 550, Quest 3 CAD 680 (512 GB). 3s is less than Switch 2 anyway (CAD 630)
If the thing goes on sale I'll be very tempted to snatch one up.
