If you already have a PS5, see if you can catch PSVR2 on sale.
There's tons to play on it with the caveat no porn or other 3D videos, nor applications. Just games.
PSVR2 can give you the same experience as a 4080 PCVR setup thanks to eye tracked dynamic foveated rendering, actually better since PC doesn't support HDR. However a lot of games don't use DFR on PSVR2, nor HDR. (Mostly Quest ports, better resolution like TWD S&S, but no DFR nor HDR) Those that do look awesome though, RE8, RE4, GT7, CotM, NMS, Hitman (no HDR). As well as many smaller games. Plus the OLED screens give much better color.
Quest if you must have something standalone, can't stand a cable, want mixed reality games or use it for anything else than games. You can of course get the PC adapter for PSVR2, but Quest has better clarity for text related tasks.
I already have well over 50 hours in Hitman, can't get enough of it. Partying in Berlin last night:
