‘Netanyahu might push for two different scenarios in Gaza’
Tamer Qarmout of the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might go back to “the old recipe” of fully occupying Gaza for the foreseeable future. But the situation remains unclear.
“Even if Hamas capitulates and disappears from the picture, do Netanyahu and the Israeli army think Gazans will receive them with flowers?” he asked. “Of course, Gazans will resist – with or without Hamas. It is occupation.”
Even after the recent call-up of 30,000 Israeli reservists, it is not enough to control every aspect of life in Gaza, he told Al Jazeera.
As a second scenario, Israel might push more than 2.3 million Palestinians into a narrow corner in the south, Qarmout said.
“We have to worry and take this scenario very seriously. This is a scenario of Israelis handpicking Gazans and pushing them outside the border or shipping them to somewhere else.”
What comes next for Gaza “really depends on what is in Netanyahu’s mind”, he said.
Netanyahu seeks to rope US into Middle East ‘disaster’: Iran’s top diplomat
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to pull the US, with which Tehran is engaged in nuclear talks, into conflict in the Middle East.
“Netanyahu is directly MEDDLING within the US Government to DRAG it into another DISASTER in our region,” Araghchi said in a post on X, warning against any “mistake against Iran”.
The comments come after Netanyahu warned that Israel, in concert with the US, would repeatedly strike at Iran, which Israel blames for a Houthi-claimed missile attack on Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday.
LETHAL support for Netanyahu's Genocide in Gaza and waging WAR on behalf of Netanyahu in Yemen have achieved NOTHING for the American people.
