Basically the problem is capitalism, Lmao. Anyone should be happy to be profitable in the billions, not the pure breed capitalist though, they will never be happy, the line must always be shooting to the stars, no amount of profits are good enough if profits aren't increasing, it's a constant chase for growth (which will eventually come to a crash when human population stagnates).
Growth! Growth! Growth! And if they don't get that growth they throw a tantrum, shut things down, fire everyone and move onto the next dopamine hit (which is currently AI). China isn't any different, they are hooked on capitalism too, China is just lucky they have more room for growth right now, though most of that growth is coming from PC but we've already seen Chinese's mega corps gut their Japanese investments recently, I don't trust China's mega corps anymore than I trust the American mega corps.
I don't know the solution and I don't think it's for America's videogame industry to die, or for the blackhole games to die, we live in a capitalist world, if the American videogame industry collapsed or the blackhole games died overnight, that too would be utterly horrific for the videogame industry as a whole and result in a significant decline in gamers and even further decline in investment.
