The reason it seems to be generating close to zero hype in here is simple and plain; Bethesda Softworks, they will butcher the series and most know it.

you people are too nostalgic to the Fallout games from 10 years ago. If Fallout 3 was the same as the last 2, it would be considered stale

I played Fallout 1 and 2 for the first time like two months ago...

I thought they were amazing and they are on my "Best 10 RPGs of all Time" lists.

They really need to get a D&D game going with a slightly modified version of that system.

I'm guessing that some of the other top 10 RPGs on your list are also from Black Isle? In my opinion Fallout 1&2, Baldur's Gate 1&2 and Planescape Torment are some of the best games ever made. Bethesda had a good TES game that twindled on the edge of oblivion with Morrowind.

I'm in agreement with Naznatips on this one, Bethesda should finish shitting out Fallout 3-6 (or 5 can't remember right now) and then let the IP fall back to Interplay and hopefully Bethesda isn't allowed to pimp out this once great series anymore.

Actually... I didn't like Baldurs gate... though further inspection shows me that the one I played was one not made by Black Isle. Balders Gate Dark Alliance.

Which from the looks of it was a totally different game.

As for Planescape Torment. Never been able to find a non-insanely expensive copy when i've had the money.

I really perfer the turnbased gameplay with these type of games though.

I don't really prefer the button click madness that is Diablo, but Planescape Torment did enough to mitigate the annoyance that is Diablo click-fest.  I preferred the turnbased of Fallout as well, which is why I consider it a better game.

The thing about all the Black Isle games were that they had engaging story lines, that actually required you to deal with your decisions throughout the game.  There have been no other developers that have ever came close to matching the involving story lines present in any of the Black Isle games.
