Biochemist. I currently work in a company that creates GM crops for pest control. Most days I'm either designing new proteins, or expressing and testing proteins I designed before. Lately I've changed methodology to test as many proteins as possible as quickly as I can which has been very fun on my end. Moving from testing 20-30 a week to 800-900. Rest of my time is meetings to talk about the various projects that are going on.

I'm very happy that I managed to get a job in protein engineering/design. Was a dream in grad school that required quite a bit of extra training to accomplish.

To me there is a good and bad side to your job.

Good side, if I ever come under a Zombie attack I can turn to you to bioengineer me some plants for a real life Plants vs Zombies.

Bad side, those GM beanstalks you sold me for my dairy herd (inflation) that you designed to grow extra large and extra quick end up with me being chased by an angry giant yelling fee fi fo thumb.
