Sony is raising the price of the digital edition PS5 across europe and some other places.
Yay, let the insanely rich corps hold hands and screw us all at the same time. |
This sucks. But at the same time the whole tariff situation is going to screw over everyone for many different products.
I'm not saying that Sony shouldn't be absorbing the costs, but at the same it is really a surprise? I'm honestly more shocked that only the digital version increased in price. But I believe the disc addon decreased in price, so unless you're going digital only, I don't think much has changed.

That is smart and stupid at the same time, it's smart because if both games hit big then Sony has one of their biggest months yet but it's stupid because you are literally competing with yourself, the advantages that Marathon has over Borderlans is the fact that it is a competitive shooter and also the price, two main points when it comes to shooters. We will never know who was the one with the idea, I can see both parties making the decision, Bungie's CEO is what's left of a terrible administration pre acquisition and Sony probably putting a dead line to Bungie to release the game, that deadline being 2025 before GTA6 release. We know Borderlands will have a "healthy" separation from GTA6 release so we know the release window is end of October-November. This is also important because it also means if Sony wants to release something else this year it has to be at end of August max.

I'm pretty sure there's sepculation that Ghost of Yotei is early September too.
Honestly, this just sounds like a Bungie issue: they're allowed to do their own thing but it does seem like Marathon is unaffected by the reeling in Sony did of the team a few months ago. I'd wager that Marathon is really the final thing the team is doing before being fully absorded by SIE, unless Marathon is a massive breakaway success that allows them to prevent that.
That said, I think Marathon looks cool. But I'm also not the target audience for for paying for this sort of content. I haven't even bought Astrobot or FF16 yet, because I need them both to be on deeper discounts, which tells you how and where I'd rather put money if i can get a game.
