‘Let them eat rockets’: US elects anti-Palestinian Republican to Congress

Trump-backed Florida State Senator Randy Fine – who has a history of Islamophobic and anti-Palestinian statements – has won a special election for a US House seat.

Here are some of the things he said over the years:

  • “May the streets of Gaza overflow with blood.”
  • “Anyone who gives numbers of Palestinians deaths supports terrorism.”
  • “‘Palestinian’ = Hamas. #BombsAway”.
  • “Stop the trucks. Let them eat rockets. There are plenty of those. #BombsAway.”
  • “Gaza must be destroyed.”
  • “The blood is on the hands of those who refuse to acknowledge the worldwide #MuslimProblem. It is high time to deal with this fundamentally broken and dangerous culture.”
  • In 2021, Fine responded to a photo of a Palestinian infant killed by an Israeli air strike with, “Thanks for the pic!”



Child shot dead by Israeli soldiers in West Bank’s Silat al-Harithiya

A 15-year-old Palestinian child has been shot in the chest and killed by Israeli forces in Silat al-Harithiya, located west of Jenin in the occupied West Bank.

The Ibn Sina Hospital, where the boy was transferred, confirmed his death, according to the Wafa news agency and other local Palestinian outlets.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its crews transported an 18-year-old young man who was injured after taking a live bullet to the hand, and a 17-year-old who was shot in the foot.

The child’s killing by the Israeli military marks the 35th Palestinian killed during 72 days of siege on Jenin, its refugee camp and surrounding areas.


Lebanon’s defence chief calls on truce sponsors to stop Israeli violations


Defence Minister Michel Menassa has told foreign dignitaries he hosted today that Israel is escalating its attacks against Lebanon, the National News Agency reports

“The countries sponsoring the ceasefire agreement must stop the Israeli enemy’s violations and aggressions against Lebanese sovereignty,” Menassa was quoted as saying by the agency.

Israel has been carrying out near-daily attacks in Lebanon, and last month, it bombed Beirut twice despite the ceasefire it reached with Hezbollah last year, which was sponsored by France and the US.

The Israeli military also continues to occupy parts of south Lebanon in violation of the truce deal.
