Main events on March 30th

  • Medical sources tell Al Jazeera that at least 64 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli raids across the Gaza Strip since dawn on Sunday, the first day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
  • The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) says it recovered the bodies of 14 medical workers who were attacked by Israeli forces while trying to reach wounded people last week in southern Gaza’s Rafah.
  • PRCS has called for an investigation into the deadly Israeli attack, which it called a war crime; Hamas says the medics were found “handcuffed and buried in a single grave”.
  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Hamas must “lay down its weapons”, exile its leaders, and turn over Gaza’s security to Israel to reach the “final stage” of a ceasefire in the enclave.

Hamas says Israel’s Eid attacks show its ‘denial of moral values’

A statement on Telegram from the Palestinian group says the Israeli army has continued its bombardment of Gaza throughout the day, without any regard for the sanctity of Eid al-Fitr.

“The terrorist attacks on the first day of Eid al-Fitr resulted in the deaths of dozens of martyrs, including children in their Eid clothes,” it said. “The killing of children on Eid day inside their tents reveals the occupation’s fascism and its denial of any human or moral values,” the statement added.

Medical sources told Al Jazeera earlier that 64 people have been killed since dawn on Sunday in Israeli raids across Gaza.

Israel’s assault meant to make Gaza uninhabitable

Tariq Kenney-Shawa, a US policy fellow at Al-Shabaka, a Palestinian policy network, says Israel’s “deliberate destruction of Gaza” aims to render the enclave uninhabitable and force out Palestinians.

Kenney-Shawa was commenting on a post earlier today from Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office that said Israel was “not hiding”, that its “plan” is to follow through on US President Donald Trump’s proposal to clear Palestinians out of Gaza.

“Only thing they’re hiding at this point is that this was the plan all along,” Kenney-Shawa wrote on X.

“They’ll call it the ‘Trump plan,’ but Israel’s deliberate destruction of Gaza – the demolition of hospitals, water treatment plants, entire neighborhoods – was designed to render Gaza uninhabitable, and leave no alternative but mass displacement.”
