"The game is good but not as good as people say, not recommended"
"[Requirement specified in the steam page] Is enough reason to NOT buy this game (but I bought it anyway because I don't read)"
"GODOT is a woke engine"
"This game would be better if the protagonist wasn't a woman"
"The developers is an EMO and doesn't care about his users"
And I could go on and on in the list of trash reviews I have seen on Steam. Not long ago an indie game I wanted to buy released for both PC and PS5, on Steam it had a 50% rating with mostly negative reviews because people bought the game without reading the steam page first and were bitching about a requirement (the same game is 4.5 of 5 on PSN but that is irrelevant for the purpose of this comment). But hey it's better a bad review from a copy sold than not selling, right? No, the first 24 hrs are crucial for a game on Steam, based in sales and ratings Steam decides to keep promoting the game or send it to hell with the rest of games. In this age where people love to hate and love to follow what their favorite streamer says Steam is full of trash reviews and those trash reviews can harm years of work. PSN and Nintendo eshop are good without the feature.
User counts would be fun tho.
