Basically it won't end with him having a building collapsed on top of him and slammed into a sarcophagus (where he is at the start of Doom 2016) so they can keep it open to future stories in the medieval setting, they don't explicitly confirm sequels but they do say that they have DLC planned already so either way, ending it there would make no sense for the DLC at least.
