I don't think it will ever properly catch DLSS because AMD would then start to price their cards to be more in line with Nvidia, which overly relying on AI tech has massively backfired in Nvidia's face this gen with the PC community. Little to no actual horsepower improvement gen over gen, barely any improvement on VRAM for nearly a decade except on the super high-end, yet you're paying twice to three times the premium for their cards because of the AI tech.
AMD has been always been on the more budget-friendly side of tech, and if they try to properly compete with Nvidia, then that's gonna have bad consequences on console hardware pricing in the future. Which is probably why Sony is opting to prioritize their own AI tech.
