Hind Rajab Foundation files war crimes complaint in Germany against Israeli soldier

The advocacy group has officially filed a criminal complaint in Germany against Shay Friedman, an Israeli soldier suspected of participating in war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, the organisation said.

“The complaint, submitted to the German authorities, outlines serious allegations, including aiding and abetting murder, genocide, and other grave offences under both German and international law,” the Belgium-based group stated.

Friedman is currently in Germany, the organisation said.

The group said it submitted various pieces of evidence “including videos of Friedman destroying civilian infrastructure, including homes”.

Formed late last year, the foundation has pulled together lawyers and activists from around the world to prepare similar cases, primarily based on social media content shared by Israeli soldiers themselves.

Pro-Palestine protests continue at Columbia University

Columbia University students in New York organised a protest yesterday against their university hosting former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

Student protesters demonstrated again earlier today at Columbia University in New York, vowing to remain at a library on campus overnight until three expelled students for pro-Palestine activism are reinstated.

The students were expelled for distributing flyers at a lecture on campus, for a class titled “History of Modern Israel”.

Columbia University President Laura Rosenbury condemned the students’ actions in a statement, pledging disciplinary measures against those who entered the building unlawfully and violated college policies.

Police maintained a strong presence during the protests, which concluded late in the evening, with demonstrators continuing to voice their support for Palestine in the surrounding neighborhood.
