Despite all the good games, Wii U is still my least favourite Nintendo console. I really dislike the gamepad so I used the pro controller for most games, but still, least fav. I had more fun on the Wii as my first Ninty home console.
Switch is by far the best device Nintendo has released imo, I refused to play botw on Wii U I wanted the better experience on the switch. |
There isn't a big difference between the WiiU and Switch release of Breath of the Wild, largely aided by the stylized and simplistic visuals. Both games drop to 20fps thanks to it's double buffer.
Resolution on the WiiU is 720P on the TV, 480P on the handheld. Resolution on the Switch is 900P on the TV, 720P on the handheld.
Visual makeup of both games are identical. WiiU TV mode is basically identical to the Switch in Handheld mode.
Game is otherwise brilliant on either machine. I enjoyed the WiiU when I got it at the end of it's life, especially for the price and grabbing Mario Kart 8, Smash, Breath of the Wild, Twilight Princess HD, Wind Waker HD and Xenoblade X... Got tons of fun out of it before the Switch came into it's own game-library wise. |
That actually reminds me I still haven't re-bought Breath of the Wild on Switch since then. And naturally is still hasn't dropped in price. If I have 2 cents left to rub together after PC Build Hell I'd better make sure to pick a copy up before the Switch 2 launches.
If Nintendo have any up-res technology or other improvements planned for Switch 2's backwards compatibility (which is honestly kind of wishful thinking, but still) Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will likely be some of the first showpieces, so those copies will start flying off shelves soon. Probably can't afford to wait too long. Same goes for any other WiiU OGs.
