I think it is more about people who will never change for some good reason; nothing to do with hate. (I mean of course there is some hate, esp. the console wars kids).
One thing people really underestimate (and esp. those in this "console war" thing), is that Sony got a HUGE chunk of the market with the Play Station 4 (for good reasons); and now those people will need a LOT to switch to Xbox. No matter what Microsoft comes up with, it will need to enough to justify abandoning all their investment and game library behind. This is mostly why Xbox did not manage to do anything this generation.
Microsoft has the games, but the "Internet" as you mention it, is 70%+ in favor of Sony because, well, they have a Play Station... Like it or not; that's a fact.
Most are not even looking at what is available on Xbox probably... And most just listen to "influencers" that are actually going to promote whatever Sony is coming up with anyway.
Sony is probably the most anti-consumer of the three, but still, people will support them and let them do everything because they are now invested, and the cost of switching to Xbox, even if the value is better (and the games are there, too), is simply not worth it.
