West Bank’s displaced Palestinians fear Israel’s raids ‘won’t stop’
Sanaa Shraim had to leave her home in the Jenin refugee camp due to Israel’s weeks-long raids in the northern West Bank.
The Israeli forces have long carried out incursions into the camp, where Shraim and about 24,000 other Palestinians normally live.
“There have been so many repeated raids, and they won’t stop,” said the stern-faced grandmother, speaking to the AFP news agency in a crowded room at a community centre in Jenin city where the family has been sheltering for the past month.
She had already lost her fighter son Yusef in a previous Israeli raid in 2023, according to the agency.
More recently, Shraim, forced to flee the escalating Israeli assault in late January, has watched her daughter give birth while displaced.
“I worry about what will happen when the children grow up in this reality of constant raids,” Shraim said.
