Families in Gaza prepare for Ramadan amid growing scepticism over Hamas-Israel talks
The first phase of the ceasefire agreement is nearing an end, and mediators are trying to facilitate the transition to the second phase. The aim is to secure the release of more Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners and bring permanent peace to already-shattered Gaza.
Israeli reports suggest that the country is discussing the possibility of extending the first phase of the agreement with the US and the regional mediators without specifying clear guarantees to prevent the resumption of war.
Families in Gaza welcome the holy month of Ramadan amid these new talks that are met by a growing sentiment of scepticism here. Families here are homeless, devastated and struggling to afford their basic needs.
