Main events from February 22nd

• Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said the release of more than 600 Palestinian detainees planned for Saturday has been delayed “until the release of the next hostages is guaranteed, and without the degrading ceremonies” at handovers of Israeli captives in Gaza.
• Hamas condemned Netanyahu’s “procrastination and stalling tactics” and described the delay as a “blatant violation” of the Gaza ceasefire deal.
• Earlier, the Palestinian group freed all of the six remaining living Israeli captives slated for release under the first phase of the truce agreement.
• Thousands of Israelis rallied in Tel Aviv demanding Netanyahu advance the ceasefire deal into its second stage and secure the release of all of the remaining captives held in Gaza.
• Hamas politburo member Basem Naim said the group is “willing immediately to leave the governing position in the Gaza Strip and to allow any Palestinian unity government or a technocratic government or any alternative which is decided by Palestinians within the Palestinian consensus”.
• Israeli forces killed two Palestinian children, aged 12 and 13, in the occupied West Bank’s Jenin and Hebron as settlers attacked and set fire to Palestinian property near East Jerusalem and Ramallah.

“In light of the repeated violations by Hamas – including rituals that humiliate the dignity of our prisoners and the cynical political use of them for propaganda – it was decided to postpone the release of prisoners that was scheduled for yesterday until the release of the next prisoners is guaranteed, and without the rituals of humiliation.”

What humiliation? Netanyahu just doesn't want Israeli's to see what Gaza has been turned into. The prisoner exchange is the only time Israel gets a glimpse of inside Gaza.

SURPRISE Ceasefire Exchange Attack FLOORS Netanyahu!

An attack upon Benjamin Netanyahu in light of a recent, truly depraved speech has come from a rather surprising source!

Right, so this week saw the return of the remains of hostages that Hamas took, who sadly lost their lives as a result of that. If Hamas hadn’t taken them they would still be alive, sure, but the biggest trauma experienced by those people in Hamas captivity, was as a result of the IDF’s actions.

The return of the bodies of the Bibas family has been marred however as a result of a mix up in remains being returned, an incident that has since been rectified, but not before Benjamin Netanyahu has tried to make as much political capital as he possibly could over the matter, exposing the depths of depravity he is prepared to stoop to, a hitherto level of hypocrisy we’ve not seen in my view even from him previously, but of all organisations, groups and bodies to come back at him for that, you wouldn’t have bet on the Red Cross necessarily, but they’ve had something to say about it.

Right, so that was Benjamin Netanyahu milking the mix up in the return of Sheri Bibas’ body for all he was worth in what I feel the need to apologise for almost in making you watch that, a blood pressure warning might have been appropriate, because he weaponised the deaths of those two boys, tragic deaths for all he was worth there.

I am reminded that on the night of October 7th the Hannibal Directive was in place, therefore for all we know, the IDF were themselves firing on the Bibas family as they were taken, no consideration of the ages of the two children taken there or any others who may have lost their lives on that night.

I am also reminded that more than 61,000 Gazans have been killed due to Israel’s genocide, more than 70% of them women and children and the way Netanyahu attack Hamas as monsters when we know the monstrousness he has presided over as well it’s hypocrisy on a level that is very difficult to stomach.

None of that lets Hamas off the hook of course, they took these children, but the circumstances of their deaths and the deaths of so many children in Gaza, the last person on Earth anyone wants to hear an intervention of this kind from in light of that is Benjamin Netanyahu.

The release of the Bibas family’s remains by Hamas was supposed to bring some measure of closure, not least for the surivivng member of the family, the father Yarden Bibas, who was released this month, pleaded whilst he was in captivity to have the remains of his family released, having said: ‘Bibi, you destroyed my family. You killed my wife and my children, everything in my life… I am begging you, please bring my wife and my children home.’

When the last surviving member of the family has made clear who he blames for the death of his family, nothing Netanyahu says can possibly supersede that. He was still prepared to go ahead and try though.

The release of the Bibas family remains has as a result become a flashpoint for accusations, political manoeuvring, and outright hypocrisy on Israel’s part.
