Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories | Francesca Albanese at Erasmus University Rotterdam
On Friday, 14 February 2025, Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, gave a talk at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Albanese highlighted the findings of her report released on 1 October 2024, which outlined her legal analysis on why the attacks on the Palestinian population may amount to genocide, and have drawn attention to the legal responsibilities of Third States and international organizations to halt the onslaught on Gaza and ensure the accountability of perpetrators of international crimes.
This event was organized by members of various EUR faculties and Centres, including The Hague Humanitarian Studies Centre and Legal Mobilization Platform, hosted at ISS Erasmus. The event was facilitated by Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Israeli Court Sentences Palestinian Child For 18 Years In Prison
An Israeli court has sentenced 15-year-old Palestinian boy Mohammed Basel Zalbani to 18 years in prison and fined him 300,000 shekels ($83,000). Arrested in February 2023, Zalbani was accused of resisting occupation. His family’s home was also demolished. With over 1,100 Palestinian children imprisoned and increasing violence in the West Bank, human rights groups are calling for urgent international intervention.
