There's a fun history of UK and Russia constantly trying to fuck each other over, Lol. The Anglo-Russian War (1807 – 1812), Crimean War (1853 – 1856), The Great Game for control of central Asia. Then of course the espionage, Britain and Russia heavily spying on each other, UK refusing to extradite Russian citizens like the Chechen separatist leader Akhmed Zakayev. Then Russia deciding to drop deadly poisons on UK soil like on Litvinenko which soured relations even more.

UK was a pretty decent supporter of Ukraine back in 2014 after the Crimea invasion and then we've been a pretty strong supporter of Ukraine after 2022 as well. We may have not sent the most but we have been the ones to break taboos such as sending modern MBTs and Long-Range Missiles and then pushing to lift those restrictions, plus it's already known that British Special Forces are active in Ukraine.

Despite our military not being top dog lately, it is still powerful enough for Russia to see as a rival, and London is a massive economic hub. Putin and his mouthpieces always refer to us as evil Anglo-Saxons as well, it's clearly a deep rooted hatred, they believe that Anglo-Saxons rule the world. UK is also a nuke capable country and our nukes are not exclusively reserved for our own country. Plus we had little dependence on Russian gas which has helped us. Also Brits in general are very much "Fuck Russia" in my experience even at the best of times, Lol.

UK in the past obviously pushed America's agenda on Europe, I think we're seen as the middle-man between America and Europe. We have a capable Navy which controls a large portion of sea. We have always been strong contributors to NATO. Things are a bit rough for the UK right now but we were a global superpower for a very long time, it makes us an attractive rival for Russia whilst at the same time being too cowardly to go as hard on a country like America which is currently far more powerful than the UK, Lol.
