Trump announced plans to meet with Zelensky next week. He -once again- spoke about the sheer numbers of dead and wounded and stated that it would have never happened it he was President. Trump also said they aim securing Ukrainian rare metals.

I hate Trump and this stuff makes me hate him even more but it makes me respect Zelenskyy even more. He has gone from a simple comedian to an incredible politician who knows how to work around so many complex situations. It's a deal that Zelenskyy had in mind but saved it for a Trump Presidency solely so Trump could take the credit, I bet Zelenskyy deep down must hate Trump but he will do whatever it takes to save his country and thus bites his tongue and has never abandoned Ukraine.
He knows to play to Trump's ego, offer him up an offer so good that he can't possibly pass it up, but the con for Russia is that a significant portion of these resources are in Russian occupied territory, so if Trump wants them as well, then Russia will have to piss off, but even then Ukraine still has a lot of resources in territory they hold, it will give Trump a political win in the sense that America gets a hugely valuable resource and makes supporting Ukraine "worth it" to the selfish assholes who are only in it for money.
Why would selfish Republicans reject the offer at this stage? It's a choice between pressuring Ukraine to surrender and receiving nothing in return, except a major loss to America's name, millions dead and a Russian win or supporting Ukraine and in exchange receiving hundreds of billions worth of resources and giving a black eye to Russia at the same time.
