It took me an extra day to finish the first game; it wouldn't let me get the final cutscene until I helped Hans with his dumb DLC quest.

But yeah, I've been playing for the last couple days. Loving most of the changes-- the combat in particular seems slowed down, but it's now a lot more functional and fair. I haven't been in many big fights to know for sure yet though.

I'm finishing up another game first before I go full force on this. I've finished the tutorial, wondering can I go off now and do what I want or will there be repercussions for not following the path aroubd the wedding. Will the main scenario give me Lee way to go off the beaten path for a bit, like?

I'd recommend following the main quest until just after you arrive at Semine and do the first quest there. A) It's freaking fun and hilarious, Old Lord Semine is an absolute Chad, and B) it let's you get an easy/cheap horse, some decent plate armour, some ranged weapons (if you know where to look) and a sword trainer. After that you can go off and do what you want, you shouldn't have to rush to the wedding yet (I haven't gotten there because I've been exploring and side-questing).

I was doing a lot of side-questing at first, but it was getting a bit tedious because I didn't have a horse, my gear was shit and I was struggling to make groschen; especially coming straight from the first game where I had enough groschen to open a bank. When I finally got back to the main questline and realised all the things I needed were right there, I felt like an idiot, so that's my advice from hindsight. Everything has gone a lot smoother for me since.
