The console market would be too small for three companies but large enough for two to coexist.
That is the answer.

Maybe but right now it looks that it will be Sony vs Nintendo (PS5 vs Switch 2) all the way. As MS is leaving the console race quite soon its questionable if MS does not develop a PC with standardisised settings (same GPU, CPU, RAM...) wich a nice design marketing it as a console. But should we really track its sales? Because it will get complicated then. Is the new Xbox a PC or a console? If MS makes a PC and market it as a console, had no optical drive but you can upgrade it, then the plastic case itself would have a longer life. Do we track the GTXidontknowwhat or SSDs sold to these PC/Console hybrid users?! I mean graphic cards are far away from a 10 year lifecycle so count together 2 or 3 generations? Not track XboxNext at all? Will it be only PS6 and Switch 2 then?

We've already explained to you about console dev kits and current gen systems on how they are made.

MS will not bow out and then go on to make a "hybrid", when that is what their current system is (seriously, what do you think is inside your "console"?). MS would do like MS and publish their own data, just like they've done before.

I know you're making a big questionable point about "b-but will we be able to track it's sales", because I mentioned about Steam CCU data, but I feel like you're just doing that on purpose to fuck with me, because no one is that stupid to suggest MS make another "console" and then magically stop talking about it's unit sales.

Also it's not "complicated" either, we already have the Steam Deck, and Pem and others have already told you on what the device is and how it works.
