They're very different, but also quite formulaic with the same cars and races. There is some more unique stuff but also the cringe of the festival nonsense.
In the end FH is open world, arcade mechanics, races are ribbons on fantasy roads. It's fun for a while but doesn't hold my attention like racing classic cars around the Nordschleife in VR with dynamic time and weather.
FH4 is better than FH5 imo. FH5 just feels like a less fun setting with the exact same game structure. But if you haven't played any prior FH games, FH5 is perfectly enjoyable on its own.
