I don't believe in this conspiracy that AMD and Nvidia plan all this together, there's been too many chiefs at AMD over the years for it to make sense.
I do think that Nvidia does a better job designing their chips, leaving room for adjustments, both up and down, to react to whatever info they may get from what the competitors are doing, and that's why they can always get slightly on top.
