The list looks fine to me, I'm tired of companies *cough* Nintendo *cough* constantly releasing the same games over and over again. I wish they would finally start a new franchise with new characters. I remember when people would get excited about NEW games. Ten years ago in 1998 we got:
StarCraft
Unreal
Metal Gear Solid
Grim Fandango
Pokémon Red and Blue
Xenogears
Half-Life
Thief: The Dark Project
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Sure, OoT and MGS weren't new franchises but they changed the gameplay, something that is hardly a common occurrence now-a-days. What has come out this year that is both high quality and new? The only release that comes to mind is Patapon although that technically came out in late 2007. Companies need to stop relying on the same tired franchises and do something new and exciting, the way they used to.
EDIT: The biggest problem with the list is that they missed some of the worst offenders such as Mega Man, Pokemon, Ratchet and Clank and Castlevania.
