They were great characters and stories. A long time ago. They could easily come up with some amazing stuff if they would just move away from the safe profits of old faithful.

 

How has 'bad guy kidnaps the princess, go save her' ever been a great story? Nintendo games always have been and always will be about great gameplay. I don't understand how changing the main character who saves the princess could make an excellent game better.

 

I didn't necessarily say Mario had a great story... was referring more to Zelda.  And Mario may not have had great story...well... ever, but the world building was second to none back then. 

Either way I'm sick of seeing Mario's face, and would like to see new characters, new gameplay, pretty much new everything.  But for me, this generally applies to any characters that have already seen 3 or 4 games.
