I also thought the new Mario Kart looked too similar to MK8, now 11 years old, in the graphics department. But between doubling the number of characters onscreen and what looks to me to be much more expansive worlds to drive through, it does still require a lot more of the hardware than MK8 does.

In terms of the hardware, I'm glad Nintendo is not fixing what isn't broken since that would just be repeating their mistakes with the Wii U, but since the hardware is "a better Switch" I really need to see actual games to get truly excited.
