Israeli military flattening neighbourhoods in north Gaza with bulldozers

The scale of Israel’s attacks continues to escalate across different geographical locations in Gaza. But the concentration pretty much during the past 24 hours has been on Gaza City.

The Israeli military is still broadening its attacks on residential areas. One of the latest has struck a school sheltering dozens of Palestinians in Jabalia town.

Reports coming from witnesses suggest that the skyline of northern Gaza is overwhelmed and covered with thick black smoke coming from buildings in the Jabalia refugee camp and Beit Lahiya that were burned by Israeli ground forces.

Medical teams in al-Awda Hospital continue to report that the Israeli army is going on with bulldozing all residential homes in the vicinity of the hospital amid more deterioration taking place among medical cases left there, and it could be a sign of further Israeli escalation taking place within the coming days.

The military operation has no sign of stopping or abating in northern Gaza, where different border towns and villages have been decimated completely as part of that Israeli military operation that has been justified as a sort of dismantling of the military capabilities of Palestinian armed groups in the north of the Strip.

• The Palestinian Media Centre reports injuries after shelling by the Israeli military in the area around al-Shafi’i Mosque, west of Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
• Israeli military vehicles fired on the eastern areas of the Zeitoun neighbourhood, southeast of northern Gaza City.
• Civil defence crews in Khan Younis report three people were wounded in an Israeli drone strike on civilians west of the city.
• One person was killed and a number injured after an Israeli aircraft bombed civilians in the Hamad area of Khan Younis.
• Israeli soldiers filmed themselves cheering the demolition of a house in Beit Hanoon.

Gaza doctor documents surgery by phone light

Dr Manar Fayyad videoed surgeons in a Gaza hospital performing surgery by phone light because of a lack of fuel for generators.

Al Jazeera’s Sanad agency verified the footage that Fayyad recorded showing doctors gathered around a patient with one holding a mobile phone to illuminate the surgical procedure.

“We are working under phone light due to the power outage at the hospital because the occupation prevents the fuel from reaching the hospital,” he said.

Doctors arrive in Gaza to support beleaguered health system

Fourteen doctors from various countries entered the Gaza Strip, according to Turkey’s Anadolu news agency. The physicians aim to provide medical assistance to wounded and ill Palestinians.

“Twelve surgeons and two doctors have come to Gaza to support the Palestinian people in the Strip,” Shadi Zaza, president of the Rahma Worldwide organisation, which contributed to the initiative, said at a news conference.
